Ben Heppner out of Met "Ring" cycle with more vocal troubles

We were disappointed, but unfortunately not surprised, to hear that Canada's great heldentenor Ben Heppner, "the most famous Wagner tenor of our time," has withdrawn from the Metropolitan Opera's much anticipated new production of Richard Wagner's "Ring" cycle, a costly hi-tech production created by fellow Canadian Robert Lepage. He was to have sung the very demanding role of Siegfried. His participation in the new production was announced with great fanfare back in 2007 and it would have been his first outing in the role at the Met.

From strip club to fame and fortune: stars who started small

The next time you head out with your friends to the local gentlemen's club, you might want to keep your eyes peeled: one of the strippers on stage could be the next famous girl to come out of the world of exotic dance. Imagine watching a movie in a couple of years and being able to claim that the lead actress gave you a lapdance in the champagne room. It may be hard to believe, but some extremely famous women started their careers dancing for money. While few of them shed their sexy images once moving on into more high profile forms of entertainment, they have certainly shown that dancing can be just another way to get into show business.
