You're moving into your new condo but the building's not finished: is this normal?

It's "interim closing" day on your new condo: now what?

Your dream of owning your own home is finally coming true. You decided to buy a new-construction condominium for a variety of reasons: you were attracted to the look and design of the new building; you fell in love with the floor plan and the model suites; you found the home that you could best afford in an area that you wanted to live in. Probably all of these reasons, as well as others that only you appreciate, came into play, and you have been anxiously waiting for the big day when you can close the door behind you and settle into your brand new home.

Now the day has come to move in. Because this is a new-construction building, you understand that there will be a period of occupancy in your condominium home during which you do not yet hold title to the property. In your discussions with the property developer and with your lawyer, you have learned that there will be a period of time between the date when you take occupancy and the time that the building is registered with the municipality.
