Motorola came out of this year's Consumer Electronics Show, held over the weekend in Las Vegas, with top honours in two big categories: its new Xoom tablet was named Best of CES on Saturday, and its Atrix 4G smartphone won best in that category. You won't hear a dissenting voice about either of these calls.

Tourism Toronto's edgy new ad agency has its work cut out

Tourism Toronto announced last month that it has named Crispin Porter + Bogusky (CP+B) as its new lead marketing agency. This is a very big deal. CP+B is an international agency with top-drawer clients like Microsoft, Unilever, Kraft, Burger King, Phillips, American Express and Molson Canadian. It has more than 1000 employees in six "factories" spread across North America and Europe. Its billings are $1.6 billion worldwide and it has won the Grand Prix at Cannes International Advertising Festival in every category.
