Films and Books Top Ten Movie Picks of the Decade

Films & Books’ Jessica Lyric is known for strong opinions and rarely picks the Oscar choice or the box office champion. Jessica's picks for the best movies of the last ten years are thought-provoking and—to some
critics and fans—controversial. She builds a good case for each pick. Click on any story below to see why, find out more, and view the trailer—then tell us if you agree or disagree!

“Best in Film” Each Year: A Series
I have long prided myself on having seen movies from every decade since they began. So why not use that knowledge to come up with a comprehensive list of the best movie from each year, in my opinion.
I take into account the cultural impact, artistry and the technical elements of the films, but there can never be a rubric that will truly capture the instincts involved in picking favorites. Thus I present a list that is complete for me, but may not be for you. Feel free to debate.
I have included the Best Picture Oscar winners from each year and the movie that won the box office to allow you context. I did not try to avoid choosing those films, but they rarely match up with my choice.
So I will start with last year and work backward. Will you agree or disagree? Please Comment! Please also visit me on my blog. Leave your comments on her choices at Films & Books.
