Content drives success online:
- Engaging and entertaining content: keeps audiences interested and "sticky
- Focused content that "pulls" your target will make you popular—if you don't focus only on "yourself." Focus on news and content of interest to your audience, and subtly blend in or soft sell your proposition.
- Content should be "published" in the right places to have impact. The right place might not be your blog or website. In fact, there's more value in propigating your content on "other people's blogs and sites" than your own. You'll create in "inbound" reference to your site, helping drive meaningful traffic
- Content must be professional. Even if you have the skills, the level of content our methods call for can be/should be a full time job. Okay, you have the content. Is that enough?
No, if you have simply posted it on your website. The cliché, "if you build it, they will come" doesn't work well in the vast universe of internet content.
For this reason we've developed 8 key tactics that we've proven work over several years and a many clients. It starts with an "anchor" medium—which should not be your main website—but can take many forms: Ezine/Webzine (usually both), robustly built social media channel (although we normally use this to support the main anchor), podcast channel, online TV. The key to this tactic is that the very best-of-the-best arms-length content must be placed on the anchor to provide a "portal" to your site. Find your audiences with the anchor, subscribe them for loyalty, and drive them to your proposition from there.

Of course, the big issue is time. Between the demand for daily content (required by this plan) on multiple platforms, most propositions require a full time team to deploy well. Larger companies, of course, can dedicate at least one "social media" position, although that's rarely enough.
